CODEBLACK ENTERTAINMENT SELECTS TURNERPATTERSON AS NEW AGENCY
Los Angeles, CA Jun 11, 2007 CODEBLACK Entertainment, a multi-faceted entertainment organization featuring urban themed programming announced today that they have signed an agreement to retain TurnerPatterson as the exclusive merchandise licensing agency for the CODEBLACK brands and their films.
Founded in 2005 by Jeff Clanagan, CODEBLACK Entertainment is the first independent, vertically integrated African American-owned film studio and is the largest annual producer and distributer of films targeting African Americans. CODEBLACK is actively engaged in the business of feature film production and distribution, urban market consulting, and the production of programs for television broadcast and syndication. CODEBLACK Entertainment was created out of the necessity for the positive representation of African Americans in film. Through several entertainment outlets, CODEBLACK provides a consistent stream of sophisticated urban themed programming that is distributed across theatrical, digital, broadcast and internet platforms. Current CODEBLACK releases include "Jamie Foxx Presents-America's Funniest Comics" hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, "My Brother" starring Vanessa Williams, and "Shadowboxer" starring Academy Award winners Helen Mirren and Cuba Gooding, Jr. A powerful driving force in motion pictures, television, home entertainment and new media, CODEBLACK Entertainment projects double the revenue of their gross sales of 2006 in 2007.
CODEBLACK has further increased its equity by developing a strategic business alliance with one of Hollywood's biggest media conglomerates, 20th Century Fox. Codeblack currently has a multi-picture deal with 20th Century Fox's new film distribution division, FOXFAITH, to produce six original films targeting the African-American faith-based market. The first two productions are film adaptations of the 80's Off Broadway gospel musical hit, "Mama I Want to Sing!" and the popular
play "A Good Man is Hard to Find."
